Linda Ashman is the author of more than 45 picture books and the creator of The Nuts and Bolts Guide to Writing Picture Books. Her books have been included on the “best of the year” lists of The New York Times, Kirkus Reviews, the American Library Association, the Children’s Book Council and others, and have been translated into many languages. She leads writing workshops and gives presentations about writing and children’s books at conferences and schools.

Linda grew up in New Jersey, worked in New York, and spent many years in Los Angeles and Denver. She now lives in Chapel Hill, North Carolina with her husband, Jack Hicks, and their elderly dog Stella. She enjoys gardening (despite the challenges of marauding deer) and cheering on her son Jackson, a pitcher in the minor leagues.
